CUESTIONAMIENTOS ÉTICOS RELATIVOS A LA GRADUACIÓN Y A LA RESIDENCIA MÉDICA
Los autores, partiendo de los objetivos de la formación médica, consideran que estos solo pueden ser alcanzados con la participación de pacientes como sujetos en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje y muestran los riesgos y beneficios en este contexto. Destacan el problema de como realizar esta tarea sin irrespetar la dignidad de las personas enfermas, contemplando sus derechos de participación en las decisiones sobre su salud. Del punto de vista ético, presentan los principios y valores que pueden justificar el hecho de tener graduados de medicina y médicos residentes participando de los cuidados de los pacientes. Después de analizar el fundamento ético para justificar este entrenamiento en servicio, presentan algunas recomendaciones para la realidad brasileña y concluyen llamando la atención para las responsabilidades de todos los involucrados en la formación de los médicos.

QUESTIONING THE ETHICS OF MEDICAL SCHOOL AND RESIDENCY
This paper argues that medical school objectives will only be achieved when patients are involved as subjects in the education process. The pros and cons of such approach are analyzed. The authors explore alternative ways through which this task can be accomplished without disrespect to the rights of the ill and in such a way as to ensure their right to participate in decisions affecting their health. Holding an ethical point of view, the paper presents the principles and values based on which a joint approach to patient care by medical undergraduate students and resident physicians may be justified. After analyzing the ethical foundations to validate such in-service training, the authors make recommendations tailored to the medical reality in Brazil, and finally draw one's attention to the responsibility of all players involved in medical education.
